In a typical Endeca implementation, only one instance of Forge is run during a baseline or partial update operation. The Parallel Forge feature allows you to run multiple instances of Forge to process large data sets. This feature is conceptually similar to running multiple Dgraphs under an Agraph. In the Dgraph case, multiple Dgraphs distribute your indexed Endeca records over multiple machines, and the Agraph coordinates access to each distributed data set. In the Forge case, multiple instances of Forge, each started as a client process, distribute source data processing over multiple machines. An instance of Forge, started as a server, coordinates the overall processing tasks of the Forge clients.
