Outlook Connector IMAPS / POPS Failure When Using Perdition Proxy
(Doc ID 1451283.1)
Last updated on JANUARY 10, 2025
Applies to:
Oracle Communications Connector for Microsoft Outlook - Version 7.3 and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform.
Goal
The used messaging setup :
- Outlook Connector 7.3u1
- MS Outlook 2007
- Perdition IMAP proxy server
Outlook is being used in combination with the Outlook Connector (OC) to get messages from Oracle Messaging Server.
We have a Perdition IMAP/POP proxy server in front of our Oracle Messaging Server. When using IMAP/POP in non-SSL mode, there is no problem - mail works properly. But, when we configure IMAP or POP in SSL mode, we are not able to access our mail.
From tests we've done, we know the problem does not occur with :
- MS Outlook 2003 + Perdition in SSL mode, or
- MS Outlook 2007 using an IMAP profile, and
- another 3rd party proxy server (Dovecot) in SSL mode.
If we use SSL for IMAP or POP, we have the following message in a pop up box at the end of the installation of the module for OC:
It seems that when using SSL on the proxy server, it forces the client to do SSL auth without a password?!
How can we configure OC to use standard IMAPS/POPS with password ?
