MTA LDAP Cache Tuning and Is There a Negative Cache? (Doc ID 1507210.1)

Last updated on DECEMBER 08, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Messaging Server - Version 5.2.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

This is a closed system.  SMTP connections should only come from specific devices, which should all have accounts.
But, there are still some attempts to log in to accounts which do not exist.
That is actually a problem for the customer to resolve with the device vendors and/or infrastructure.
However, doing these repeated lookups for non-existent userids has some impact on the LDAP service.

Can the MTA do any caching to reduce that impact?
