"Message No Longer Exists" Popup Received When Accessing Shared Folder

Symptoms
Messaging Server 7u4-18.01
Convergence 2 patch 4
Two users whose mail resides on the same mail server, access a shared folder, which resides on a second mail server.
If one of the users is in their primary inbox and they compose or edit a message, all works fine.
If one of the users is in the shared folder inbox and they compose or edit a message, after 1-2 minutes of typing, they see a popup with the following error:
Message no longer exists
The issue is not specific to any particular browser and is seen with Firefox, IE, etc.
Telemetry was turned on for IMAP and in the telemetry log, just before the problem occurred, we saw the following response from the IMAP server which includes a "VANISHED" response:
