Applies to:

Oracle Communications Connector for Microsoft Outlook - Version 7.3 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Instructions for getting Outlook Connector deployed for Outlook 2010/64bit.

Background

Outlook 2010 is installed as part of Microsoft Office 2010, even if it is installed by itself.

The Microsoft Office 2010 installer supports a 32bit and 64bit variant.

All components will consistently use the same variant, including Outlook.

Outlook Connector is an Outlook plugin using MAPI,  so the deployed Outlook Connector variant needs to match Outlook.

Specifically: if a customer was to use use Office/Outlook 2010 in 64bit, they would need a 64bit variant of Outlook Connector.

History of Outlook Connector 64bit support

Office Outlook 2003 and 2007 were available in only 32bit variants.

Outlook Connector 64bit support only became an issue when Outlook Connector began supporting Outlook 2010.

History of Outlook 2010 support

Outlook Connector 8.0.0.0.0 (Communications Suite 7U3) added support for Outlook 2010/32bit, but not Outlook 2010/64bit.

Outlook Connector 8.0.1.0.0 (Communications Suite 7U5) added support for Outlook 2010/64bit.

For more information on Outlook Connector support and Outlook 2010 (all variants), see Document 1304301.1.
