As of today, no products or production specifications were ever created in UIM for XYZ project. The various products ordered or subscribed by XYZ customers are only configured on Siebel side which they sent down as Fulfillment codes. UIM does not have information about products provisioned by OSM when they are sent down by Siebel. The services configuration items for a particualr order in UIM only holds information such as devices(Handset, SIM card), telephone number, static IP address, Device IMEI etc.
XYZ has a couple of initiatives which require tracking product definitions in UIM. A given service will then be associated with the product(s). We are in the process of modeling potential solutions for XYZ. As part of the exercise we ran into a bit of a roadblock. If we create the products in UIM, we can’t seem to find a method which will allow an existing service to be associated to a product instance.
Here are our questions.
1. Can existing service instances be associated with products via the gui?
2. If the gui doesn’t have the capability, can APIs be leveraged to support the task?
