Failure of a Single AService Process Should Not Restart Them All (Doc ID 1553946.1)

Last updated on JULY 08, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Messaging Server - Version 7.0.4 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Starting in Messaging Server 7 update 4 patch 25 (7.0.4.25), it is now possible to run multiple AService processes in a single instance of the MMP rather than having to run multiple zones, each with a separate instance of the MMP. Message Server 7u5 (7.0.5.28) further improved MMP scalability because of a change from using the poll() syscall to using Solaris event ports.

But now, on a single instance of the MMP in a single zone on a system and service.mmp.numprocesses set high enough to maximize utilization of that system, if a single AService process crashes for some reason, the watcher will restart all the AService processes, which interupts all the sessions going thru that MMP instead of only those going through that one process.
