Delayed Telco GPRS Session Event Were Not Properly Read by Testnap Robj which Errors with "PCM_OP_READ_OBJ failed: err 43:PIN_ERR_STORAGE" (Doc ID 1676235.1)

Last updated on MARCH 01, 2018

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Billing and Revenue Management - Version 7.4.0.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

This problem happened with the Billing and Revenue Management (BRM) software version 7.4 PS7 and could impact delayed GPRS events :  /event/delayed/session/telco/gprs.

When this problem happened, some of those events may not properly be read by some parts of the application.
For instance, when trying to use the testnap "robj" command :

nap(13189)> robj - 0.0.0.1 /event 1435648711026426408
PCM_OP_READ_OBJ failed: err 43:PIN_ERR_STORAGE, field 0/6420:PIN_FLD_SERVICE_CODES,
   loc 4:PIN_ERRLOC_DM, errclass 1:PIN_ERRCLASS_SYSTEM_DETERMINATE, rec_id 0, resvd 0
# number of field entries allocated 20, used 2
0 PIN_FLD_POID           POID [0] 0.0.0.1 /event 1435648711026426408 0
0 PIN_FLD_ERR_BUF         ERR [0]
   <location=PIN_ERRLOC_DM:4 class="PIN_ERRCLASS_SYSTEM_DETERMINATE":1 errno=PIN_ERR_STORAGE:43>
   <field num=PIN_FLD_SERVICE_CODES:9,6420 recid=0 reserved=0 reserved2=0 time(sec:usec)=0:0>
   <facility=0 msg_id=0 version=0>

In such a case, the dm_oracle.pinlog would show something similar to the following set of messages; the ORA-01455 is characteristic to this problem :

ORACLE error: do_sql_mr_select: PINStmtExecute: code 1455, op 0

This problem would only impact those /event/delayed/session/telco/gprs which session_id field would have a value higher than 2147483647 (or 2^(32-1) - 1) : those events are properly stored in the database, but cannot be properly read by, for example, the testnap robj tool. Instead, the system errors with ORA-01455.

It is expected that all events created by the BRM OOB (Out Of the Box) software, and properly stored in the database, should be properly read.
