Enqueue Records in mail.log_current Show Confusing Rewrite Destination Channel (Doc ID 1929431.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 15, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Messaging Server - Version 5.2.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

For a few users in a certain domain, mail seems to be routed to the user-defined channel instead of tcp_local.

imsimta test -rewrite <recipient>; shows it should go to tcp_local - the output ends with:

So it makes sense that mail for a 'domain' recipient would be sent to the 'tcp_domain' channel, but this does not explain why mail for <user2>@<domain1> is rewritten to <user3>@example.com.

We also noticed that this is mainly (only?) happening for the one domain, <domain1>. And the recipient addresses being rewritten to 'domain' all start off as recipient addresses @<domain1>. And the MTA which is relaying these messages to the Messaging Server MTA where we see the log messages like above, is always the same IP address.
