Setting The Value For log_messages_syslog Parameter
(Doc ID 1988156.1)
Last updated on FEBRUARY 02, 2024
Applies to:
Oracle Communications Messaging Server - Version 7.0.4 and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform.
Goal
We need to configure Messaging Server to utilize the syslog for it's logging facilities. To enable this type of logging, we referred to log_messages_syslog, which says:
"...0 is the default and means no syslog logging is performed; setting the option to a non-zero value causes MTA message transaction log file entries to be written to syslog. The absolute value of the non-zerovalue sets the syslog priority and facility mask. ..."
When setting the log_messages_syslog parameter (either through the legacy configutil command or through the unified configuration msconfig command), it is not intuitive what value to use.
Is there an easy way to determine this?
