Error 'Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.RunTimeException: installation error PV_HOME/products.properties not found!' When Selecting Next on the 'Create User' or 'Database User Validation' Screens in the P6 EPPM Configuration Wizard (Doc ID 2028790.1)

Symptoms

When running the P6 EPPM Configuration Wizard from the command line in a Command Prompt or Terminal window, the following error occurs after selecting Next in the Create Users window while creating a new database or the Database User Validation window while upgrading an existing database:

Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.RunTimeException: installation error PV_HOME/products.properties not found!
at com.primavera.admintool.install.wizard.EPPMwizard.loadProductsProperties(Uknown Source)

 

The issue can be reproduced at will using the following steps:

  1. Open a Command Prompt or Terminal window on the server hosting the P6 EPPM application.
  2. Leave the current directory set to the default (should be the user's home profile directory) or change the current directory to be something other than the P6 EPPM home directory.
  3. Launch the EPPMConfig wizard:
    • Windows: <P6 EPPM home>\p6\eppmconfig.cmd
          Example:    C:\P6EPPM_1\peppmconfig.cmd
    • Linux:   /$Path_To_P6_EPPM_home/p6/eppmconfig.sh
  4. Step through the Wizard and observe the reported error.
