OC3C Applications using 100% CPU on Linux

Symptoms
On Oracle Communications Convergent Charging Controller (OC3C) version 6.0.0 some processes are using 100% CPU when idling:

Although no obvious from the above output, there is no traffic hitting this server.
With the 'top' system command we can see that PIprocess, smsTrigDaemon, smsMergeDaemon processes are fully utilizing a CPU thread/core.
Same issue was reported against smsCompareResyn and ccsProfileDaemon (strace output below):
