OC3C Applications using 100% CPU on Linux (Doc ID 2144655.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 24, 2017

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Convergent Charging Controller - Version 6.0.0 and later
Linux x86-64

Symptoms

On Oracle Communications Convergent Charging Controller (OC3C) version 6.0.0 some processes are using 100% CPU when idling:

top - 15:06:39 up 5 days, 10:33, 2 users, load average: 3.53, 3.43, 3.46
Tasks: 683 total, 5 running, 678 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie
%Cpu(s): 2.8 us, 2.8 sy, 0.0 ni, 94.4 id, 0.0 wa, 0.0 hi, 0.0 si, 0.0 st
KiB Mem : 13162657+total, 12234076+free, 1847260 used, 7438548 buff/cache
KiB Swap: 13743718+total, 13743718+free, 0 used. 12765726+avail Mem
38035 smf_oper 20 0 125820 39456 13668 R 100.0 0.0 6331:49 PIprocess
37568 smf_oper 20 0  61504 16120 12332 R 100.0 0.0 6332:06 smsTrigDaemon
37679 smf_oper 20 0  69384 26360  4364 R 100.0 0.0 6332:06 smsMergeDaemon

Although no obvious from the above output, there is no traffic hitting this server.

With the 'top' system command we can see that PIprocess, smsTrigDaemon, smsMergeDaemon processes are fully utilizing a CPU thread/core.

Same issue was reported against smsCompareResyn and ccsProfileDaemon (strace output below):
