Symptoms

User, <USERID>, cannot be (bootstrapped, deleted, synced); and --checkstore on the index shows it is not corrupt.
However, --checkaccount returns error:

# ../jiss/bin/issadmin.sh --checkaccount --user <USERID> --sync

Failure on command: <USERID> IssException: Unable to open index reader: java.io.EOFException: read past EOF: NIOFSIndexInput(path="<DIR>/jiss/index/store/<DIR>/segments_31r") refill: end=0 start=0 length=0
