Mail Sent To root Delivered To Wrong Mailbox (Doc ID 2159043.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 23, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Messaging Server - Version 7.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Mail sent to root (ex: root@example.com) is getting delivered to the wrong mailbox.

We changed a mailAlternateAddress from one entry to another and the mail is still delivered to the old mailbox.

Changes

mailAlternateAddress: root@example.com

used to be set for the account:
dn: uid=admin_user,o=example.com,o=isp
mail: admin_user@example.com

mailAlternateAddress: root@example.com
is now set on the account:
dn: uid=user1,ou=people,o=example.com,o=isp account
mail: user1@example.com

(and was removed from the previous account)

Since the change, mail sent to root@example.com is still going to the inbox for the admin_user account instead of the user1 account.
