How to Run LMTP in Mixed Environment? (Doc ID 2164127.1)

Goal

Would like to run LMTP on multiple backends, however switching them all to LMTP delivery at the same time is not feasible.

Also we have some users who have mailhost set to a non-Messaging Server backend (i.e. Exchange), which will never be able to do LMTP.

Can we run LMTP in a mixed environment and if so, how?
