How to Avoid Increment of Version of Design Added to Released Item (Doc ID 2170711.1)

Goal

After adding CAD (i.e. Solidworks) data to Agile via MCAD connector, would like to approve it through ECO.
After adding Design to Attachment tab of item, Add Item as Affected Item of ECO, and approver will approve and release.

After releasing the Item, when attempting to add CAD data to Agile by Save Preview -> Continue without adding the item to ECO, data in Agile will be below:
1) Version of Design increases --> Would like this to be avoided with error as the Item is already incorporated
2) Adding new version of the Design to the Item will throw Error --> This is expected

Is there anyway to avoid 1) in this case?
