Pin_collect Process Freeze During Security Scan Check With an Infosec Tool (Doc ID 2173256.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 27, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Billing and Revenue Management - Version 7.5.0.13.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Customer is experiencing hang of Billing and Revenue Management (BRM) application( Connection Manager (CM)'s) during security scans by an Infosec tool.
During the last month, during pin_collect, it started a scan the BRM server ports, and pin_collect process hung (all CM’s were up but there was no consumption of CPU and no DataBase activities, it was necessary to kill the application).
The Infosec tool tries to establish a connection of most off the BRM server ports, despite the application ports (CM/Connection Manager Master Process (CMMP)/DM_ORACLE) that have been exempted from the scan, but the tool is able to communicate with the cm and blocks the application, it seems that it reaches the saturation parameter (pin_bill_accts deadlock_retry_count 20).

An example of the error:

Can the customer run these kind of tools at their end on the BRM servers? If yes, are there any conditions w.r.t the BRM process like the protocol they can use to communicate, etc?
