Convergence / Messaging (Webmail) Server: Customization to Suppress the "SMTP Error x.x.x" Alert from Being Displayed on the Client (Doc ID 2292839.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 23, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Messaging Server - Version 7.0.5 to 8.0.1 [Release 7.0.0 to 8.0.0]
Oracle Communications Convergence - Version 3.0 to 3.0.1 [Release 3.0]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

How to hide / replace the "SMTP Error x.x.x" string that shows up on the Alert Window that pops up on the Convergence / Webmail client interface?

Consider a scenario where the number of emails being sent per-user are being restricted by Using MeterMaid.  For more details on setting up MeterMaid, refer to Doc ID 1542987.1: "How to Restrict Number of Emails Sent Per-user by Using a MeterMaid"

As a result of this, when users exceed the MeterMaid Message throttle quota, they would see the "SMTP Error 5.7.1" appearing on their screen.  Although this behavior is expected and as per standards, there may be a requirement to suppress / replace this string with a user friendly message, such as "You have exceeded the limit for sending emails - Please try again after some time."
