What Configuration Parameters Are Needed For The daily_cleanup Script To Run? (Doc ID 2369813.1)

Last updated on JULY 03, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Messaging Server - Version 8.0.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

The Messaging Server 8.0.2 documentation indicates:
 "When considering how to manage the log files, note that the MTA periodic return job will execute a site-supplied DataRoot/site-programs/bin/daily_cleanup script, if one exists. Thus some sites might choose to supply their own cleanup procedure that, for instance, renames the old mail.log file once a week (or once a month), and so on."

On Messaging Server 7.0.5 we had the following specified in the configuration:

"local.schedule.rotate_logs = "0 3 * * 0-6 /opt/sun/comms/messaging64/data/site-programs/daily_cleanup""

Does the documentation for 8.0.2 mean that the additional setting above to call /opt/sun/comms/messaging64/data/site-programs/daily_cleanup (currently set in MS 8.0.2 unified config as "role.schedule.task:rotate_logs.crontab = 0 3 * * 0-6 /opt/sun/comms/messaging64/data/site-programs/daily_cleanup") ... is not actually required if "role.schedule.task:return_job.crontab = 30 0 * * * lib/return_job" is set?
