Sieve Redirect To Local Part Starting With '+' Ends Up Stuck In l (el) Channel (Doc ID 2380383.1)

Last updated on APRIL 09, 2018

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Messaging Server - Version 7.0.3 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

This problem is noticed when using MS 8.0.2.2.20180130 64bit (built Jan 30 2018).

Sieve redirect to local part starting with + ends up stuck in the l (el) channel instead of being rejected.

A couple of messages were seen in the l channel queue.

Nothing in the configuration is setup to go to the l channel.  The l channel should only be used during alias expansion; not actually have messages enqueued to it.

This issue occurs when a user has a sieve like the following:

dn: uid=user,ou=people,o=domain.com,o=email
mailsieverulesource: require "copy"; if header :contains "Subject" "redirect this" { redirect :copy "+1-nnn-nnn-nnnn@domain.com"; }

imsimta test -rewrite +1-nnn-nnn-nnnn@domain.com correctly results in an error:

Expanded address:
  +1-nnn-nnn-nnnn@domain.com
Submitted address list:
Address list error -- 5yz 5.1.1 unknown or illegal alias: +1-nnn-nnn-nnnn@domain.com

But, something about this happening in the user's sieve causes it to be accepted instead.
