How To See The Number Of Concurrent Users In IM (Doc ID 2397228.1)

Last updated on JUNE 22, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Instant Messaging Server - Version 10.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

How can I record the number of concurrent users in IM via the xmppd.log?

Noticed the following section in the documentation: https://docs.oracle.com/communications/E76289_01/doc.1001/e76291/im_monitoring_im.htm#IMSAG270 , which talks about Oracle Enterprise Manager and JMX Clients.

In our deployment, all logs are sent to splunk (apart from doing netstat -an for connections on the frontend).  What might be present in the logs that will show the number of concurrent users?  The logs must report something, or does the JMX work via a plugin that has this data elsewhere?  It would be preferable to have this information in the xmppd.log so that it can be present in splunk.

Also noticed the enable monitoring parameter and set the iim_server.monitor.enabled property to true etc., but it is assumed that this won't be collectable via splunk if it is there without debug.
