Symptoms

Performance of all drop downs in the system was unacceptably slow, and displaying screens was also slow. This was caused by the use of the KO if statement in HTML in conjunction with the getKOData() call which was causing KO to create subscriptions for EVERY element in the view model. Each time an IF was executed these subscriptions were created, so if you multiplied the number of “KO Ifs” used on the screen with the number of elements in the object model, it was generating hundreds/thousands of subscriptions that were not needed. There is a tipping point for the number of elements on the screen and when performance degrades; the base screens did not get to that point, but will still benefit from the fix when it is available.
