Error: "Field StartDate May not be Set to Null" or "Field FinishDate May not be Set to Null" When Attempting to Import an XML in P6 (Doc ID 2518515.1)

Symptoms

When attempting to import an XML file the import fails and the following error is observed in the XML import job logs:

ERROR

SEVERE: Field StartDate may not be set to null. For XML Element ID/UID : 88269056
com.primavera.integration.client.xml.xmlimporter.XMLImporterException: Field StartDate may not be set to null. For XML Element ID/UID : 111111111

or

SEVERE: Field FinishDate may not be set to null. For XML Element ID/UID : 88237506
com.primavera.integration.client.xml.xmlimporter.XMLImporterException: Field FinishDate may not be set to null. For XML Element ID/UID : 111111111

STEPS

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Import XER file
  2. Export out project as XML
  3. Import XML file back into P6
  4. XML import job status will fail
  5. View log in job status
  6. Observe error
