How to Configure Meter Data Management Usage Calculation to Calculate Separate Usage Periods when there is a season change during the Usage Calculation period.

Currently, a Usage Period is passed for a full month based on the current account's configuration, without taking into account if there is a seasonal change during the period.  When the Usage Transaction is calculated in MDM and returned to the billing system, it is for a single usage period just like in the initiating request.  The problem arises because then the billing system needs to apply a different rate to each different season during the bill period and isn't able to determine how much of the usage in the single period applies to each of the seasons.

Without the possibility of sending multiple usage periods or a date brake in the initiating transaction, how can this be handled in MDM such that it sends back separate usage periods based on the season?
