MetaSolv Solution Release 6.3.1 - Redesigned My Desktop (Functionality Change) (Doc ID 2713647.1)

Oracle Communications MetaSolv Solution - Version 6.3.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

The MetaSolv Solution My Desktop page has been redesigned for Release 6.3.1. In prior releases, the page was a portal with a default Welcome Page portlet that provided option links for "Customize your desktop", "Customize your navigation bar", and "Change color schemes". Customers had the ability to add pre-configured (My Tasks, My Service Requests, My Links) portlets, custom portlets, and edit the layout of the page. Starting with MetaSolv Solution Release 6.3.1, My Desktop no longer supports custom portlets. The My Desktop content is now a static 2x2 layout with areas for the Welcome Page, My Tasks, My Service Requests, and My Links.

The Welcome Page area now has a custom notification/announcement feature visible to all users at logon. The custom content is controlled by a new Global System Preference (Preferences > System Information > My Desktop Message) that provides a Heading and a Message field. Text entered in the Heading field is displayed with a larger, red font-size/color. Text entered in the Message field is displayed with a regular, black font-size/color like other information on the page. The feature can be used to notify users of planned down-times, upgrade schedules, or other notifications as desired. The "Customize your desktop" option is no longer an available Welcome Page option.

Note: Any links that were added by users before upgrading to this release will not be migrated. Users are advised to save the links before upgrade and add them again after upgrading.
