Impossible To Setup Video And Audio Calls From Huawei Smartphone To Cisco Jabber (Doc ID 2724172.1)

Last updated on MAY 26, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle Communications WebRTC Session Controller - Version 7.2.0 to 7.2.0 [Release 7.2]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Using WSC 7.2 , there is no way to setup a successful call from a Huawei smartphone to Cisco Jabber.

Scenario: call from Huawei smartphone to Cisco Jabber.

HUAWEI --- WSC --- ORACLE SBC --- CISCO CUCM --- JABBER SOFTPHONE

The biggest issue with these devices is that h.264 codec is simply missing from the SDP offer coming from Huawei side.

The only video codec present is vp8 (and vp9).

In the implementation, the internal infrastructure does support only the h.264 video codec. For the time being there is not any kind of transcoder able to convert vp8 to h.264.

The absence of h.264 video codec has a weird effect on the whole signaling: even though the audio should work fine, this does not happen in practice. The call completely fails.
