MedDRA Upgrade Creates Duplicate Entries in Event Groups (Doc ID 2790805.1)

When Codelist > Event Groups are imported and if the list contains duplicate terms, upon saving the duplicate entries are retained.

It is expected that upon saving, the duplicates would be purged.

After MedDRA Recode, duplicate terms were seen in the Event Groups:

Console > Code Lists > Event Groups

Workaround: Find and delete duplicates through Console, however when there are hundreds of terms, this is undesirable.

Replication steps:

1) Use the Export option to create an Excel spreadsheet.
2) Delete duplicate terms from the spreadsheet and save with a new name.
3) Import the new spreadsheet using the Import option.
4) When import is complete the system shows that the imported Event Group now has fewer records than were exported. (This would suggest the duplicates had been removed.)
5) Save the changes

After saving the changes one sees that the duplicate terms are added back to the Event Group
