Convert Allocation Error When Attempting to Groom Facility Assignments Copied in a Project - "You cannot convert a connection allocation to a circuit position assignment. Please groom to a connection that supports connection allocations." (Doc ID 2795010.1)

Last updated on JULY 28, 2021

Applies to:

Oracle Communications MetaSolv Solution - Version 6.3.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Network Groom error when attempting to groom circuit assignments from an Optical facility onto two new Optical facilities. The groom project works normally until the assignment rows are copied to allow the 2nd assignment to be made. The error is thrown when attempting to assign (Groom to) one of the copied rows. Below is the entire error text.

Additional Information

The behavior appears to have resulted from new Groom Tool changes to allow for bandwidth allocation grooming. In this case, it appears the lack of a circuit or circuit position on the row causes the application to think it is an allocation and not a circuit position.

Changes

First observed in MetaSolv Solution 6.3.1.192.
