Credential For Ftpuser After Cloing Not Working

While running port update script(./PortC.sh UPD), it was failing with error invalid credentials.
On : 220.127.116.11.0 version,
Post cloning Development instance to SIT instance
the following error occurs.
ERROR : while running port update script(./PortC.sh UPD), it was failing with error invalid credentials.
STEPS to replicate : run ./PortC.sh UPD then check for the results and then try login to UI with new password
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1.perform cloning as per the steps mentioned in cloning guide
The issue has the following business impact: Pre- prod instance - unless this gets success - they will not be able to move to prod instance.
user not able to login with the new password but however they are able to login with dev password
