Symptoms
When using a P6 database utility such as dbsetup.bat, validate.bat, or migrate.bat and attempting to connect to a P6 database hosted in a SQL Server instance, the following error occurs.
SQLServerException: The driver could not establish a secure connection to SQL Server by using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption. Error: "No appropriate protocol (protocol disabled or cipher suites are inappropriate)"
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
- Launch one of the P6 database utilities from the <P6 install media>\database\ directory.
- Enter the database connection credentials and click Next.
- Observe the reported error.
