If Anti Spam ClamAV Daemon Is Stopped, Mail Messages Are Lost And Do Not Get Reprocessed After The Daemon Is Started Back Up (Doc ID 2810474.1)

Last updated on MARCH 28, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Messaging Server - Version 8.1.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

An inbound MTA is configured to use ClamAV to scan messages before the email is delivered to the IMAP server. All of the inbound email is sent to a specific domain in each location, i.e subdomain.example.com so as per rewrite rule, email sent from the outside world comes through tcp_local and gets rewritten to go through the tcp_approved channel. The tcp_approved channel has the option "destinationspamfilter1optin virus" and the email is scanned which can be observed in the logs with slave_debug enabled.

Configuration excerpts:

Due to this issue, it appears emails may be getting lost and are not getting queued and reprocessed.
