How to Allow Filtered Portfolios to Be Automatically Refreshed and Reflect Any New Project Code Assignments Added or Removed from Projects in P6 Professional (Doc ID 2831448.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 21, 2023

Applies to:

Primavera P6 Enterprise Project Portfolio Management - Version 19.12.12.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Customers with large numbers of projects can get huge performance gains by having their P6 Professional users utilize Filtered Portfolios, since it limits the amount of global project data being loaded.

However this feature was originally intended for use only in the P6 Web application, as documented in How Do Filtered Portfolios Get Refreshed? (Doc ID 1934516.1). Filtered Portfolios are only refreshed if they are 'opened' in P6 Web; when viewed in P6 Professional the portfolio's refresh date is not updated.  For P6 deployments that do not have P6 Web users, these Filtered Portfolios will never be 'refreshed'.

This document provides the steps needed to allow refreshing a specific subset of Filtered Portfolios automatically on a regular basis.
