beVWARS Cores While Reading Old MFiles After NCC Upgrade From 12.0.2 to 12.0.3 (Doc ID 2862429.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 17, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Network Charging and Control - Version 12.0.3.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

MFiles contains a subset of the Voucher and Wallet Server (VWS) data, used to reduce network traffic on the system. Some of the information held within the VWS changes less frequently, such as Tariffs. It is this data which is copied to the MFile and held on the VWS. The system reads this MFile, enabling it to retrieve data quickly, thereby reducing network traffic to the Voucher and Wallet Servers.
For more information about MFiles, see VWS Technical Guide on this link.

The current problem was discovered after an upgrade from 12.0.2 to 12.0.3 version for Network Charging and Control application (NCC).
The beVWARS handler is not working with previous MFiles, created on 12.0.2 environment. It crashes with core when trying to get some data from the MFile.

Ideally, it should support the old MFile format ... or automatically create new MFiles on upgrade, but crashing is not an option.
