Symptoms

Is it possible to tell the dispatcher to listen on a specific IPv6 address?

The following section in the Reference manual:

https://docs.oracle.com/communications/F15020_01/doc.810/f15150.pdf#page=213&zoom=auto,-148,415

specifically says "IPv4 address", so it appears the answer is that it is not current possible.

In general, our systems are built by mass automation which results in Postfix listening on port 25, but only on localhost.
Generally, this issue has been worked around by having the Messaging Server configuration listen on port 25 only on the VIP address. For example:

set_option("dispatcher.service:SMTP.listenaddr", listenaddr);

But now, there is a need to also listen on an IPv6 VIP address, but there doesn't appear to be any way to do that.

Simply disabling Postfix is possible, but it is not really a good option because things like the "mailx" command then results in mail being stuck in the Postfix queue.
Yes, there is a way to configure Postfix to run in a mode where it will service its queue but not listen on port 25. The mass automation does not currently have an option to configure that.
