Error "Failed to connect to server or failed to parse connect string" When Configuring the Database Connection for P6 Professional After SSL Is Enabled on the P6 Database (Doc ID 2888326.1)

Symptoms

When editing a P6 Professional database configuration, after an SSL certificate has been installed and enabled on the database server and the database server and client computer certificates have been imported, the following error occurs:

Bad public user name or password. Oracle communication: Failed to connect to server or failed to parse connect string.

Bad public user name or password: ORA-00542: Failure during SSL handshake

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Launch P6 Professional and click Edit database configuration on the login screen.
  2. Enter the connection information and click Next.
  3. Enter the public user credentials and click Test.
  4. View the reported error.
