Multiple Primary Supplier Definition Allowed (Doc ID 2910000.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 17, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle Retail Merchandising System - Version 16.0.3 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

On: 16.0.3 version, Foundation

ACTUAL BEHAVIOR:
---------------
RMS is allowing, via the front end, multiple suppliers to be defined as primary for the same item. This is happening when the user creating the new supplier link does not have data level access to the initially defined primary supplier. In this case, as the (primary) supplier is not visible in the screen, the user sets the new item/supplier link as primary and that does not get cross-checked against existing if any, primary supplier.

Pre-conditions:
1. User with limited data access, e.g. only allowed to manage Kuwait country.
2. Existing item/supplier setup for a Bahrain Supplier (org unit per country).

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR:
-----------------------
RMS should check at the database levels for the primary supplier's existence, under the Item_Supplier table (validating data against v_sups will not work, it will filter the primary supplier present in the Database due to data level security)  and throw an error, or by default add the supplier as a secondary supplier.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
-----------------------
1. Enter manage item screen.
2. Enter item/supplier screen.
3. Notice no suppliers are shown on the screen.
4. Add a new supplier and notice it automatically is set as primary.
5. Try and flag the supplier as non-primary and notice it does not allow.

BUSINESS IMPACT:
-----------------------
Due to this issue, users cannot add secondary suppliers in the Data Level security environment.
