Error "Unable to load data / Unknown error" When Accessing the Notebook Tab in P6 Web EPS View (Doc ID 2923610.1)

Symptoms

After opening a project with a Notebook topic assigned, when navigating to the Projects > EPS > Notebook tab in P6 Web, the following error occurs.

This issue does not occur when connecting via P6 Professional; the notebook topics loads successfully without any error.

Unable to load data
Unknown error, please contact your System Administrator

The following error can also be found in the <P6 EPPM home>/p6/WebAccessLogs/P6WebAccess.html log file:

java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Could not initialize class sun.awt.X11GraphicsEnvironment

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. In P6 Web go to Projects > EPS.
  2. Highlight a project that has a Notebook Topic assigned.
  3. Attempt to load the Notebook Topic.
  4. Observe the reported error.
