Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

ACTUAL BEHAVIOR

Database Configuration does not save a newly created alias when installing P6 Professional.

When running the database configuration wizard and filling in all the necessary fields, the "Test" and "Save" are successful, but, after clicking "Ok", the Database Configuration window does not show the newly created connection - it vanishes from the page.

Only the original alias that was created using "Run Database Configuration" during the initial install remains visible in the Database Configuration window.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR

Details of a new configuration should be saved.

STEPS

%APPDATA% path example: C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Oracle\Primavera P6\P6 Professional
%DATA% path example: C:\Program Files\Oracle\Primavera P6\P6 Professional\\Data

1.    Run the P6 Professional setup to install P6 Professional.
2.    When setup completes, click OK to Run Database Configuration and configure a database connection successfully.
3.    Copy the PrmBootStrapV2.xml from the %APPDATA% folder to the %DATA% folder - replacing the existing copy in the %DATA% folder.
4.    Edit the PrmBootStrapV2.xml file in the %DATA% folder and increment the DeploymentVersion from 0 to 1:
5.    Launch DBConfig.exe.
6.    Observe the PrmBootStrapV2.xml file in the %APPDATA% folder is updated with DeploymentVersion="1" - to match the file in the %DATA% folder.
7.    Attempt to "Add" a new alias via DBConfig.
8.    Click "Test". Observe "Test connection is successful". Click "OK".
9.    Click "Save". Observe the "Alias is saved successfully". Click "OK".
10.  Observe the alias that was just created vanishes from the DBConfig window.
11.  Observe the PrmBootStrapV2.xml file, in the %APPDATA% folder has not been updated with the new alias.
