Symptoms

ACTUAL BEHAVIOR

There is a difference in how Base Rate currency affects Resource currency in P6 Professional connected to a PPM or Standalone database compared to P6 Professional connected to an EPPM database.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR

In P6 Professional Base Rate Currency should affect Resource currency the same way regardless of whether the application is connected to a PPM/standalone database or an EPPM database.

In P6 Pro Professional connected to a PPM or standalone (SQLite) database, when both the User Preference > Currency option and the Resource currency are set to something other than BASE RATE currency, changing the Exchange Rate results in the BASE RATE currency changing value while the Resource currency remains the same.

Example:

  1. In P6 Professional connected to a standalone database, navigate to Admin > Currencies.
  2. Note the Base Currency is set to USD.
  3. Navigate to Enterprise > Resources and create a Test Resource.
  4. In the Bottom View, select the Units & Prices tab and set Test Resource's Standard Rate to $10.00/h.
  5. Select the Details tab and set Test Resource's Currency to Euro.
  6. Go back to the Units & Prices tab.
  7. Navigate to Admin > Currencies and change Euro from 0.689711 to 1.000000 then press F5 to refresh the data.
  8. Note the Resource's Standard Rate changes from $10.00/h to $6.90/h.

In P6 Professional connected to an EPPM database (or in P6 Web), when both the User Preference > Currency option and the Resource currency are set to something other than BASE RATE currency, changing the Exchange Rate results in the Resource currency changing value while the BASE RATE currency remains the same.

Example:

  1. In P6 Web navigate to Administration > Enterprise Data > Global > Currencies.
  2. Note the Base Currency is set to USD.
  3. Login to P6 Professional, navigate to Enterprise > Resources and create a Test Resource.
  4. In the Bottom View, select the Units & Prices tab.
  5. Set Test Resource's Standard Rate to $10.00/h.
  6. Select the Details tab and set Test Resource's Currency to Euro.
  7. Go back to Units & Prices tab.
  8. In P6 Web navigate to Administration > Enterprise Data > Global > Currencies and change Euro from 0.689711 to 1.000000.
  9. In P6 Professional, press F5 to refresh the data.
  10. Note the Resource's Standard Rate does not change and remains at $10.00/h
