XMS - Creating Multiple SMPP Outbound Connections to an ASP/SMSC (Doc ID 2969500.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 25, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Network Charging and Control - Version 6.0.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

On all versions of Oracle Communications Network Charging and Control (OCNCC or NCC) and Oracle Communications Convergent Charging Controller (OC3C or 3C) up and and including 6.0.1, it is possible to configure Messaging Manager (MM) to have multiple Short Message Peer to Peer (SMPP) outbound connections to the same  ASP/SMSC (same port/IP) (Application Service Provider / Short Message Service Centre)?

XMS can act as a server and then it accepts incoming connections from an ASP/SMSC or as a client and will initiate an outbound connection to an ASP/SMSC.

For incoming connections, there is a parameter to limit the number of incoming connections. It's called "Max Connections" and can be set from SMS UI -> Services -> Messaging Manager -> Configuration -> Scheme -> Paths -> Connection:

For outbound connection, there is nothing in documentation to suggest there is a limitation on this setting or the way it can be done.
