Copy/Paste of a Project Without Grouping by EPS Truncates Project IDs Containing Numbers Separated by a Dash
(Doc ID 3062625.1)
Last updated on DECEMBER 10, 2024
Applies to:
Primavera P6 Enterprise Project Portfolio Management - Version 22.12.14.0 and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform.
Symptoms
When using the copy/paste function on a project with a Project ID containing numbers separated by a dash, like 12345-54321, in P6 Professional when the layout is set as a list with no Grouping (Stored Procedure is not used), the Project ID drops all of the numbers after the dash ("-") and adds the next sequential number available resulting in Project ID like 12345-1 instead of 12345-54321-1.
When the layout is set grouped by EPS (Stored Procedure is used) the Project ID is created as expected: 12345-54321-1.
EXPECTED BEHAVIOR
Project IDs will not be truncated when copy/paste of a project is done when not grouped by EPS.
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
- Logon to P6 Professional.
- Go to Enterprise > Project.
- Go to View > Group and Sort By > and select "List".
- Copy/paste a project with name 12345-54321.
- The Project ID for the new project is 12345-1 instead of 12345-54321-1.
