Symptoms
Pipeline performance degrades when using FCT_Discount and FCT_ApplyBalance, consuming free usage from exactly one of a set of mutually exclusive sub-balances (i.e., no two sub-balances cover the same validity period).
For example, 4 SMS messages are rated which creates 4 sub-balances.
With fewer sub-balances, rating performs well. As the number of sub-balances in the balance group increases, the processing time increases linearly leading to performance lag.
