Symptoms

Even though the variable in web.xml, cachedisksize is set to 200 MB, once the cache directory got to 100 MB, you get the following error:

Error This application has encountered a fatal error and will shut down.
XMLHttp request failed: 0639489856 (Servlet error: Failed while putting the object into cache.
Unable to proceed further.).

The workaround is to clear the cache directory.

  1. Why is the cachedisksize parameter being ignored, and there is a hard failure at 100 MB?
  2. Why once we hit that limit are we trying to write to the cache directory?
