Is It Supported To Change The Accounting Flexfield Segment Separator (Doc ID 1674548.1)

Goal

The chart of account (COA) has been setup with  "."  as the segment separator, but now would like to change it to "|".
Is it possible to change the accounting flexfield delimiter in an instance were all setup has been done and periods have been opened even if transactions have been entered?
