Unable To Run Graphical Tools (GUI) (runInstaller, DBCA and DBUA) On Exadata 12.1.2.1.0 + 18.1.X.X.X And Above (Doc ID 1969308.1)

Purpose

On Exadata database servers updated or imaged from releases 12.1.2.1.0 it's not possible to start any Oracle GUI utility depending on graphical packages. Programs such as runInstaller, DBCA, DBUA and VNC fail. This note will provide instructions on how to install the required packages after updating or installing Exadata images using Oracle Linux 6 or Oracle Linux 7. The version of the packages used in this note are examples.  You should choose the version that matches your Exadata image version.

This note is applicable to every future image releases until the required X11 packages will not be included into a newer FW release.
