Purpose

This note provides information on troubleshooting the GL Posting error: Unknown Member.

Whenever a new value is added to a segment of the chart of accounts it needs to be propagated to the GL Cube.
The program 'Update Balances Cubes Chart of Accounts Dimension Members and Hierarchies' is used to do this.
In case a journal entry is entered using the new segment value before the program is run and the journal is submitted for Posting, the posting program
will automatically submit the 'Update Balances Cubes Chart of Accounts Dimension Members and Hierarchies' program to have the value added before
continuing with the posting process.
There are some instances in which the posting program ends in error and the posting log file shows an error similar to:

The Unknown Member error displays the number of the segment for which there's a new value that was not found in the cube, followed by the value
that was not found or for which an error was found when trying to replicate it to the cube.
In the sample error above 'Unknown Member [5-_PLS_UPDATE]', the value set of segment 5 of the chart of accounts has a new value, '_PLS_UPDATE',
which is not found in the cube.
