Implications Of 'Update Link Table' feature introduced in 6.26 (Doc ID 2072191.1)

I'd like to know the implications of using the new 'Update link table' feature introduced in interact release 6.26 


1) If a URL on a link table is changed, does the 'Update link table' button need to be clicked on every campaign that uses that link in order for the update to take effect in live emails?
2) What happens if other changes are made to the link table without "Update link table" being clicked? E.g. link record deletions, name changes, external tracking disablement
