Primavera Virtual Desktop Cloud Offering: How to Transfer Files Between a Local Workstation and PVD for Import / Export Performance Considerations (Doc ID 2156400.1)

Primavera P6 Enterprise Project Portfolio Management Cloud Service - Version 15.2.4.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

When utilizing Primavera Virtual Desktop (PVD) in the Oracle Cloud and accessed through Secure Global Desktop, a local drive on the user's workstation will be created as a mapped drive to access files from within PVD. This allows users to save or read import/export files in the P6 Professional application.  In almost all cases, the connection between the mapped (local) drive and PVD will be over a WAN, constrained by latency.  This can result in performance degradation when performing export/import operations from within P6 Professional that will read from a direct file (such as an XER file).

Are alternatives available that improve performance when needing to import an XER file in PVD?
