Information in this document applies to any platform.
When utilizing Primavera Virtual Desktop (P6 Professional running on a terminal server in the Oracle Cloud, published/accessed through Secure Global Desktop), your (the customer) local disk from your local workstation will be created as a mapped drive to access files from within Primavera Virtual Desktop. This will allow you to save or read import/export files from within P6 Professional. In mostly all cases, the connection between the mapped drive (your local workstation disk) and P6 Professional running on the terminal server will be over a WAN, constrained by latency. This can result in performance degradation when performing export/import operations from within P6 Professional that will read from a direct file (such as an XER file).
Therefore, the goal of this document is to provide instruction for how to save or create files to/from an intermediate location first (a disk on the terminal server) so that the export/import operation is not constrained from reading/writing from/to a file over a WAN, which will occur when reading/writing to your mapped local disk from within P6 Professional when using Primavera Virtual Desktop.
