For an Activity created from Activities object even if it's associated with a custom object it does not appear in the record's (the custom object) Activities sub tab.
If the Activity is created directly in the custom object it appears accordingly in the Activities list.
- 2 Relationships existed between the custom object and Activity object
- 1st Relationship (say A) is created when the DCL was created on Activity object and the 2nd one (say B) was explicitly created through the Relationship link in Application Composer 1:M
- the exposed Activity subtab on the custom object is based on the second Relationship and that is why when you associate the custom object and Activity through the DCL, the related Activity is not getting listed in the Activities subtab
