How To Replace The Boot Volume (and Other Volumes) of an IaaS Compute Instance With Their Restored Versions (Doc ID 2257161.1)

Last updated on MARCH 12, 2021

Applies to:

Oracle Compute Cloud Service - Version N/A and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

For an IaaS Compute instance that boots from a persistent storage volume, a remote snapshot of the boot volume with its older state was taken. Similarly for other volumes attached the instance snapshots were taken.
How can the boot volume (and the other volumes) be replaced with the restored versions from the snapshots while keeping the same names for the storage volume(s)?
